What's The First Step?
If you are interested in getting a Brazilian Butt Lift in Boston, your first step is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Vickram Tandon. When you come in for your appointment, you will meet with Dr. Tandon and discuss your goals from the procedure, ask any questions or address any concerns you may have, and have your body evaluated. During this portion, he will examine the viable areas that can provide filler and talk about what size and shape you’d like for your butt.
Dr. Tandon will discuss your medical history and lifestyle. It’s important to be open and honest with him when discussing these aspects of your life as it will help prevent any unnecessary risks. Using the information that he collects, Dr. Tandon will then create your procedure plan. If you agree with it, our Patient Coordinator will help you choose the best day and time for your surgery.
Before your Brazilian Butt Lift, we will provide you with some instructions to ensure the best possible treatment results, which will include asking you to stop taking any medications that increase bleeding, which includes aspirin, specific supplements, and anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen.
What To Expect On The Day Of Brazilian Butt Lift?
On the day of your Brazilian Butt Lift procedure, you will first be administered general anesthesia for a more comfortable cosmetic procedure. Dr. Tandon will begin by using Liposuction to remove excess fat for your gluteal fat grafting, which is unwanted fat obtained from the abdomen, flanks, back, outer thighs, or upper arms.
The purified fat is placed in a centrifuge to turn it into a higher fat concentration so it can be placed back into your lower body safely and efficiently. Dr. Tandon will then make several small incisions on your buttocks and then insert a rod-like tool (cannula) through the incision, and gently rocks it back and forth to loosen up any bands of tissue.
Next, Dr. Tandon will use a fat grafting technique to enhance your buttocks, relying on his skills and artistic eye to transfer the extracted fat into specific locations on flat buttocks, creating sexier and more-rounded buttocks with a smoother and more uniform look. Once the desired shape and size have been achieved, the incisions are closed and wrapped in a dressing, followed by a compression garment to minimize swelling, which you should wear for at least the first two weeks.
The procedure takes two to four hours to complete, and most patients can expect about 50-70% of the transferred fat to remain after the first three to four months.
Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery
After your BBL procedure, you can expect some swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the treated areas. You will be advised to wear a compression garment to support your buttocks and help minimize swelling. It’s essential to follow Dr. Tandon’s post-operative instructions, including proper wound care and restrictions on sitting or lying directly on your buttocks for a certain period. You may gradually return to your normal activities as instructed, and with the proper rest and care, you should be back to full activity in about eight weeks.

Brazilian Butt Lift FAQS
Your Brazilian Butt Lift will be performed under general anesthesia, so you should be very comfortable. Most patients find the BBL recovery to be tolerable but can be uncomfortable for the first few months as you will not be able to put your full weight on your buttocks. We will provide you with instructions on how to make your healing process as comfortable as possible and Dr. Tandon will prescribe you some temporary pain medication.
You will return about a week after your procedure so that Dr. Tandon will be able to monitor your progress. After that initial check-up, you will most likely be asked to return a few months later, and finally, around six months post-op to take some “After” photos and ensure your happiness with your results.
Results for our Brazilian Butt Lift patients vary with each unique circumstance and procedure. Most of our patients should see the final results within six months. Results typically last many years and only change with major weight fluctuations. The best way to get long-lasting results is to have Dr. Tandon perform the surgery when you are at or near the ideal weight you plan to maintain.
Many of our patients choose to combine their Boston BBL with treatments such as a Breast Lift or Breast Augmentation for a more defined figure. If you’re interested in the combination of treatments, please discuss them with Dr. Tandon during your consultation, and he will offer his expert advice.
As with any surgical procedure, Brazilian Butt Lifts do come with risks. Your butt contains an array of blood vessels and nerves. The risks of a Brazilian Butt Lift can include the following:
- Infection
- Excessive blood loss
- Deep vein thrombosis
- Fat embolism (injected fat moves into the bloodstream and travels to the lungs)
- Complications associated with liposuction or anesthesia
- Fat necrosis (death of the grafted fat cells)
If you notice any long-lasting or concerning reactions, please contact our office right away so that we may help you.
