This female patient from Boston, Massachusetts had undergone an under-the-muscle breast augmentation with another surgeon just over two years earlier. Although her initial result was acceptable, she felt her 425 cc Mentor implants were too wide and heavy and had bottomed out over time. She was particularly bothered by excess lateral breast fullness, a wide gap between the breasts, and a lack of defined cleavage.
Dr. Vickram Tandon performed breast implant revision surgery, downsizing her implants from 425 cc Mentor implants to 375 cc Motiva ERSF Ergonomix implants. The smaller, teardrop-shaped implants were selected to create a more refined breast shape and better proportions for her thin, athletic frame. AlloClae was also added along the cleavage lines to soften the transitions and improve the appearance of the space between the breasts.
Breast implant revision in fit, thin patients can be particularly challenging because there is less natural soft tissue available to camouflage implant edges and contour irregularities. This case demonstrates how careful implant selection and targeted soft-tissue enhancement can refine an already good breast augmentation result and create a more balanced, natural-looking outcome.
